Err, right! Yes! The bite marks were hidden on his finger tip, which is where the blood came from- The blood which he used to write the word "tiara". With that, I made the final connection. You see, the victim must've found out about the stolen crown and mistaken it for a tiara, which was exactly what his dying message alluded to. Mr. Souseki had set his snake upon the victim to silence him, then called it back through the vent with the whistle. He would've gotten away with his crimes too, if it weren't for the Great [meddling] Sherlock Holmes.

The finger tip? What a curious place for a snake to bite -- no wonder you had such difficulty in identifying the murder 'weapon' at first. So you uncovered many crimes in the case of investigating one. That is very impressive!

Being a detective clearly requires a keen mind and logical insight. I must admit I'd never considered how tricky it could be until this moment.

One cannot truly fathom the challenges of a detective until one follows in a detective's footsteps, I believe. [Which is precisely why he kept spurring Naruhodou to tackle investigations.]

It is a curious world, and yet, at times it is a dreadful one. The truth can be ugly.

I have not found that to be a universal truth. As a detective, are you not routinely exposed only to the worst? It must be easy it lose sight of the beautiful truths and the wonderful world when you are constantly called upon to see only its darkness.

Not at all. It is true; the darkness is evident and on occasion, it can wear one down. However, the beautiful truths are all around us, even in the simplest of things. Art, food, enticing conversation, friendship... The world shrouded in light serves as a reminder that not all is dark.

I think the darkness is a reminder of how warm and bright the light can be... oh, but listen to us speaking metaphorically about things that can be taken literally. My sister would be justifiably upset.

Your sister? What reason would she have to be upset?

Why, she is the Princess of the Night, of course. And the darkness she brings when she raises the moon is very literal and certainly not negative in the slightest!

Though, does the act of raising the moon not bring light to darkness?

Oh, I should explain -- in Equestria, the moon is to the night as the sun is to the day. I am told in human worlds that is different, and that the moon can even be visible during the day on some worlds, but Equestria is not the same. The moon lights the darkness, but it is still dark compared to the day.
