Hello?
no subject
Just checking to see how you're doing, that's all. Haven't heard from you in a while.
[ She cares. ]
no subject
Haven't you? I could've sworn... Hum. How long has it been? [He can't quite remember.]
no subject
Too long, Sherlock. I know you tend to get... lost in your thoughts sometimes. I just wanted to make sure everything was alright after what happened with Sosyne.
no subject
III... am perfectly all right, yes! Err- I apologize for not getting in touch sooner. I was... distracted. [Buying leeches off shady Otherworlders and debating healing gels and whatnot.] And yourself? Are you well?
no subject
Hey, it's alright. Just glad you're safe and not hurt. [ Of course he was. Somehow the second she heard about that she knew he'd reply -- it's why she thought of him, actually. ] I was in the desert when that happened doing some exploring so I'm fine.
no subject
Ooh, the desert? Did you come across something interesting, or was it nothing more than endless sand?
no subject
'fraid not. But I still feel like there's gotta be something out there with all those ruins, right? Might be easier with someone else -- you ever take your time down there?
no subject
Me? I'm afraid not. Such expeditions are more fit for explorers, not detectives. Though... I must admit, a prospect of ruins stirs the curious mind.

[He always assumes that's common knowledge, but then he has to remind himself that most Otherworlders haven't read The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Sigh...]
It's a Stradivarius! Though, Mr. Naruhodou has given me a very nice violin made by local artisans as well.
no subject
[ She knows what a Stradivarius is, though. Of course he plays one. Why would he play anything else, right? Still, he's impressive. ]
How does it play here? I've played pianos, of course, but I'm curious about the quality of violins. I bet they're pretty incredible.
no subject
[He pauses for a moment, humming thoughtfully.]
Though... You play the piano, you say? What luck. I happen to have one right here in the house. It was a little something I acquired to return the favor to Mr. Naruhodou. [Getting it inside the house and up the stairs was a craaazy endeavor.]
no subject
[ Jill does think that you can compare things. Stradivarius may be nice, but she's pretty sure about half of how good it is is limited to the cost of it. ]
I do, yeah. I don't have one because of how difficult it must be to transport. Already live outside the city and that's gotta be a little rough to move it. But it... I don't know, it's nostalgic for me, I guess. [ He can't see it, but she's smiling. Even if it's a little somber. ] Do you play piano, too, then?
no subject
[He pauses to take a sip of his tea and something close to static buzzes through the connection.]
So! If you would like to play our piano as well, you're more than welcome to stop by any time.
no subject
[ She's curious if it's just a lack of focus or if something is going on right now she should ask about. The thing is, she's always polite and tries not to be too personal. So she doesn't say anything for now. ]
Well, if you're inviting me. Wouldn't mind giving it a spin.
no subject
Wonderful! We'll play a duet! With your piano skills and my violin skills, I'm sure we can produce a wonderful bit of music.
no subject
I wouldn't mind that at all. It's been a while, but I can read music well enough. Just let me know when you've got some time.
no subject
[And by 'work' he means 'unpaid tinkering'.]
no subject
[ It's fine. Her work is "unpaid hunting" most of the time. Or working on her house. ]
Hey, uh... you're good at making things right? Mechanical things, too?
no subject
Why, yes! Indeed I am. Quite skilled, if I do say so myself. Why do you ask?
no subject
[ She tries not to sound all business, even if they're currently mixing business and pleasure. ]
A friend of mine is missing his hand. He has it so he can attach a chainsaw to it and a fake, wooden hand. I was wondering if you could possibly make something that's usable? Even without the same fine motorskills, anything that could work more than deadweight would be ideal. [ She pauses, since she's sure he'd like to see his handiwork (heh) in action, but she's not sure how honest she wants to be. ] He's gone now, on the Wall of Names and all. But if he comes back, I'd like this to be waiting for him.
no subject
I can manage that! Yes! It ought to be a simple task, challenging in its own ways. [Simple things can totally be challenging, okay.] ... Or. Well... There is one problem. Such a thing would have to fit perfectly, and so I would need measurements of his- err- what's left of his wrist. Or his arm.
